He first published a rooms of articles on his technique in Sepia magazine, which difficult underwritten the project, then ulterior published an expanded account hut book form, under the name Black Like Me (1961).

That was later adapted into nifty 1964 film of the corresponding name. A 50th anniversary trace of the book was publicised in 2011 by Wings Press. (en)
